Zephyr

A haven for climbers, integrating bespoke saunas, high-altitude gym, and a dynamic climbers' social hub

Zephyr is a masters project located on the mountain of Sierra Nevada in the south of Spain, designed to train and lodge climbers to extend their capabilities in extreme mountain climbing

This project introduces a comprehensive recreational space focused on wellness and training. The design incorporates adjoining dry and wet saunas, strategically positioned for post-exercise relaxation. The massage area complements the experience, connected to changing rooms for seamless transitions.

The upper module functions independently, dedicated to rest and recovery, ensuring a harmonious coexistence with the overall building program. The gym, equipped for climbing-specific exercises, doubles as a high-altitude training lab, simulating conditions for mountain climbers. The cafe and dining area provide a social hub, promoting interaction.

The project exhibits thoughtful solutions for snow ingress prevention, earthquake resilience, and sustainable energy absorption. The climbing wall, spanning two levels, incorporates features for individual and team training, emphasizing safety and adaptability. The exterior design prioritizes snow and wind considerations, ensuring a robust and enduring structure.
